There are 4 fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. These vitamins require healthy fats such as olive oil and avocado to be absorbed . It is important to use cold pressed olive oil using it unheated as in salad dressings so the nutrient’s are not destroyed . They are stored in the liver and fatty tissue.


 Today I’m going to talk about just one of these vitamins which is vitamin D. Vitamin D is produced  by the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight . It is extremely important for growth and maintenance of a  healthy body. Until recently experts in this field thought that people in warm and sunny climates had sufficient amounts of vitamin D. They thought only those people in colder northern climates needed  supplementation of vitamin D. However more recent studies have found that the majority of people in warmer climates also have low levels of vitamin D. Scientist have now recognized new evidence that this vitamin play a large part in preventing autoimmune disease , heart disease and bone and muscle discomfort . There is new  evidence in the cases of fibromyalgia that most of these patients have been tested and found their vitamin D is also . This vitamin supports the immune system and also supports nerve function so it is very important that these people along with those with chronic illness supplement with vitamin D. Your doctor can test you for low vitamin D levels if you want to know . The  recommended dosage is 2, 000 mg to 3, 000 mg per day .
