So let’s get started with today’s topic: Building Up Your Immune System Before the Holidays! 

With Fibromyalgia you might not be looking forward to the holiday as the stress of family holiday meals , holiday’s events , shopping and more stresses you out so much that you are sick constantly on the top of the fatigue , pain and not sleeping . Along with any other health issues.  

You are sad that you can’t enjoy these holidays without being sick or dealing with health issues. 

So, let’s first talk about what depletes our immune systems before we talk about building up our immune system. 

5 things that can deplete Your Immune System

Loneliness – People don’t think of this as a contributing factor but this is one of the most common. 

My thoughts on this almost everyone with fibromyalgia struggle with this . As your family and friends don’t know why you can’t do the thing you used to do !  I hope you believe that my community of fibromyalgia  would love to talk to you . This wouldn’t be a community without you all. I recommend reaching out to them . You can also send me a message or email if you need someone. Also realize just because you are lonely doesn’t mean it is the greatest thing for you to be in the fibro groups if they bring you down . That is not the answer. I want you to try a different way. Remember loneliness can deplete your immune system. 

2nd thing that depletes your Immune system is stress with the holiday’s can be a big thing which then weakens your immune system. With fibromyalgia you might feel that it’s all up to you to plan the holiday dinner ,shopping , traveling and more.  One thing I recommend doing is learning how to say no ! With Fibromyalgia you have to take care of yourself so that you don’t over exert yourself. I recommend picking your few favorite events and resting the day before. Don’t feel guilty for saying no. That creates more stress which then deplates your Immune system. 

3rd is a medication which most people don’t think about when it comes to their immune systems and making sure it stays healthy. I am not going to cover this in detail.  I just want you to think about this if you’re faced with taking a medication that can disrupt your immune system, you might want to make a different choice. 

I always recommend going the natural way. 

Insomnia- Covered in Episode 5  –

Just so you know not getting enough sleep can make you more likely to catch germs and viruses.

High Blood Sugar- High blood sugar can depleate your immune system and there’s a reason behind this. When your blood sugar is high, it causes a reaction within the body. Everyone has molecules and when your body is healthy with normal blood sugar, your molecules don’t impact your immune system.
